INTRODUCING DISTRICT 308B1 GOVERNOR 2018-2019
MICHELLE MOK SHIAU PING
Born on 5th August 1967 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Michelle Mok Shiau Ping grew up as an energetic, lively and high-spirited who enjoyed a very evventful childhood. In school, Lion Michelle was a popular girl not only because she was an active student, but also because of her generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness towards people whom she knew and those whom she did not, as well as people who needed help. She had many friends as she always stood up and fought for those who were defenseless and bullied. Thus, it is of no surprise that Lion Michelle read law at Nottingham Trent University, United Kindgom.
With a genuine passion to help others, Lion Michelle has assisted many people on the streets. As a lawyer, she has aided people who need legal consultation but do not have the means to do so by undertaking these cases as pro-bono. Her desire to help others resulted in her wanting to serve. So when she was asked to help out at a Lions event she was happy to offer her assistance and later decided to become a members of the Lions Clubs International.
Lion Michelle was inducted as a member of the Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur Central in 2002 and has experienced an eventful Lionistic journey. An active leader with the spirit of Lionism at heart, she served in various positions in her Club and was the President in the fiscal 2011-2012. In 2015, she transferred her membership to the Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur Pantai Hills. Her active participation in Lions projects was observed by many District Governors, which resulted in her appointment to various positions in the District Cabinet. She has been a Zone Chairperson, Region Chairperson, and District Chairperson. She became a certified District Trainer and a Certified Guiding Lion in the fiscal year 2015-2016. Through the various projects she participated in, and her experience as a Cabinet Officer, Lion Michelle learned the nitty gritty of Lionism. She was elected 2nd Vice District Governor in 2016, and given the mandate as 1st Vice Governor for the term 2017-2018.
